Values

1. Vision – What do you want to do with your life?waterfall1-300x200

Our vision is to inspire you to have vision. One of the hardest questions to answer in the world is “what do you want to do with your life?” How on earth can you know the answer to this question? The reality is, many people never actually work the answer to this question out.

The Student Economy believes that it is eminently possible to work out what you want to do with your life and what your passions are. Through experiencing as many things as possible, trying new things and meeting people from all walks of life you can think about where your heart lies and what you want. The Student Economy aims to accelerate this process by giving your access and exposure to people from all over the world with new, unusual but extraordinary lives and will enable you to find friends, mentors, develop your ideas and help you to create the right vision for your life.

Imagination is what will help you to develop your ideas into something extraordinary. It can be defined as the ability to form new images and sensations that are not perceived through your normal senses. We all have this ability and those of us who use it evoke new worlds, explore new realms and have the potential to do original things.

The Student Economy particularly values the power of imagination because it is what makes life interesting. Imagination is freedom from limitation and when you have no limits, you are able to overcome the impossible.

If it can be imagined in the mind, then it can be created in the world. Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach that allows you to go beyond the status quo and bring about novel solutions to problems. It is a fresh take on how you look at things.

The Student Economy holds creativity at the centre of all its activity because it brings imagination to life. It is taking action to progress your dream. Above all, creativity is a form of genius and it is something we should all aspire to.

world11-1024x5124. Connect – Connect with the world

The World Wide Web and our vast array of mobile devices have made it easier than ever before to access information and connect with people from all over the world. It has also changed the way we do business for better and for always. The internet is currently in its infancy stage in world- wide development and the way in which it will develop remains to be seen but we can be certain that as more and more people get connected every day, it presents new opportunities to explore new markets and methods to create value and solve problems.

The Student Economy believes that the internet is lowering the barriers to starting businesses and it will be an enabler for small businesses to enter markets that they never had the chance to explore before. We believe it will facilitate the rebirth of hi-tech cottage industries with people being able to make deals and transactions from their own bedrooms in new and dynamic niche markets. Above all we believe that this process will transform globalisation injecting it with healthy dose of cultural diversity, innovation and empowerment for all those who embrace it. The Student Economy believes that connecting with the world, understanding each other better, and working with each other will make the planet better.

success5. Succeed – Yaaaah!

Everyone wants to be successful, but what does success really mean? It is a very subjective term and it is different to everyone. Most people think that if you have attained a certain standard of living or a certain amount of fame, then you are successful. A lot of the time, our feelings of success are actually driven by what other people may or may not think about us.

At The Student Economy, we believe that the ideals of success and happiness are very closely related. However, we challenge the notion that if you are successful, you will be happy. We believe that if you are happy, then you are already ARE successful, and the greatest challenge you can take on in your life is to actively search for your passions which make you happy. Through the Student Economy, you will be able to meet like-minded people who are brave enough to pursue their calling in life. If you love what you do for work, it isn’t really work is it? We believe this is what real success is.

If you’re going to do something, make it awesome. We were inspired by the Pixar animation movie ‘Kung-fu Panda’ and quote it here. Whatever you decide to do, make it awesome. And don’t charge for the awesomeness. The people will come.

The Student Economy has been set up to solve two global problems. We wish to address global unemployment and the dissatisfaction of the 9 to 5 uninspiring job that many of us have.  We hope that by doing this, we will also be able to create connections between people of many nations and backgrounds around the world. We will be able to develop greater trust, greater value, deeper inspiration and a better world. And that would be awesome.
